Last night The Hive Dwellers were sitting about the K office here in Olympia, Washington rehearsing for an series of upcoming shows around the Pacific Northwest (including the final show at Northern in downtown Olympia on Saturday) and they decided to make a few “demonstration” recordings of some of their current sang faves. In the above photograph you will find Evan Hashi on drums and Gabriel Will on the electric bass guitar making the sounds that are featured here on this week’s edition of the K Singles Zip-Pak.
1. Lynch the Swan (Where Monsters Dwell Session)
2. Get In (Where Monsters Dwell Session)
The first song is a new version of a song to be featured on an upcoming volume of the Dub Narcotic Disco Plate series of 7” 45 rpm phonograph records. The new version is rearranged with some different lyrics from the version recorded for the Dub Narcotic Disco Plate. The second song is a renewed take on the Hive Dwellers 12” single “Get In” [KLP223]. The previously released version was recorded in Chicago, Ill. With Mahjongg. This new stripped down “Get In” gets the job done with bass and drums and a touch of charm.
This session is in anticipation of the new spell casting about to happen on the world-wide web. It is called Where Monsters Dwell and will be in the form of what is commonly referred to as a “pod cast”. Emanating from K and the Dub Narcotic Studio it will be hosted by Selector Dub Narcotic. It will feature spontaneous implosions of artists Kmaking noises and other sweet sounds in the garage, on the carpet, whistling between their teeth and breathing heavily through pipes. More news about this exciting interweb development coming soon!
