Wallpaper did not reflect upon the current state of rock ‘n roll with ironic boredom – they found the need for idols to be a bore.The band kept a steady sneer but subtracted angst and teenage romanticism, Wallpaper kept the outlook shiny and appealing. It was all guitars. It was all hand-claps. It was all a deft juxtaposition of pop sensibilities with lyrics sung like a sliding shimmy but written with a call for a pop-cultural reform.
